Growing Our Impact
Libraries and museums are essential spaces for LGBTQIA+ communities, providing access to affirming resources, histories, and inclusive programming that may not be available elsewhere. These institutions foster connection, resilience, and understanding by offering LGBTQIA+ literature, archives of queer history, and safe spaces for dialogue, learning, and community events. IMLS aims to expand access to inclusive resources and programs while equipping these organizations to thrive and make a lasting impact in their communities. Libraries and museums can apply for funding to create initiatives that celebrate LGBTQIA+ history, foster a sense of belonging, and provide safe spaces for community engagement. These grants enable cultural and educational institutions to become strong hubs of support and learning for LGBTQIA+ individuals.
