Growing Our Impact
Libraries and museums are essential in Latino communities, where they serve as anchors for preserving cultural heritage, fostering education, and building a sense of community identity. We know that to best serve Latino communities, libraries and museums need resources for culturally relevant programming, Spanish-speaking staff, collections that reflect the diverse backgrounds within Latino culture, and digital access to literature, art, and media from Latin America and the Latino diaspora. IMLS grants invest in resources for internships and fellowships, artifact preservation, and capacity-building projects to ensure that Latino voices and experiences are celebrated and integrated into public spaces and educational initiatives.
