Museum Grant Deadline Extended for Applicants in California Wildfire Major Disaster Declaration Areas

Washington, DC—The Institute of Museum and Library Services is extending the deadline for its Museums for America, National Leadership Grants for Museums, and Museums Empowered grant programs from December 14, 2018, to January 4, 2019, for institutions located in counties included in the California Wildfires Major Disaster Declaration made on November 12, 2018. Institutions in the affected areas may request an extension by emailing creich@imls.gov by Friday, December 14, at 11:59 pm ET.

About the Programs

  • The Museums for America program supports projects that strengthen the ability of an individual museum to serve its public.
  • National Leadership Grants for Museums support projects that address critical needs of the museum field and that have the potential to advance practice in the profession.
  • Museums Empowered: Professional Development Opportunities for Museum Staff helps museums of all sizes and disciplines respond the evolving needs of the museum profession.
