Japanese American National Museum

The Japanese American National Museum will improve the care of its collection by upgrading its building HVAC system. The collection contains more than 160,000 items comprising documents and ephemera, 3D material culture artifacts, photographs, fine art, books and bound volumes, moving images and recorded sound, and born-digital material. Informed by a previous feasibility study, the project team will work with contractors to mitigate environmental threats and future damage to its collection. Improved collections care will benefit historians and scholars of the Japanese American experience from early immigration to the U.S., World War II, incarceration, and military service.
