University of South Carolina

Log Number: ST-256880-OMS-24

The University of South Carolina will rehouse archaeological material from its Catawba-Wateree Collections, which represent approximately 400 archaeological assemblages from eight counties in South Carolina that provide documentation of sites from all periods of human habitation in the region. In preparation for a move to a new facility on campus, project staff will survey the collections and replace deteriorating housing with preservation-quality bags, boxes, and labels. Project staff will work with graduate and undergraduate assistants to catalog collections in a collections management database. Digitized objects in the Native American collections will be made available to descendant communities.
