The Library of Virginia
Log Number: ST-255013-OMS-23
The Library of Virginia Foundation will conserve and digitize the executive papers of Thomas Nelson, Virginia's fourth governor, elected in 1781. The Thomas Nelson collection consists of 2,048 documents, including letters from prominent figures of the Revolutionary War, such as the Marquis de Lafayette, George Washington, and Nathanael Greene. Staff will delaminate the materials to prevent further damage to the collection, repair manuscripts, and mend tears and breaks. Staff will rehouse the collection in archival folders and boxes. Prior to the completion of the project, staff will digitize the collection as well as create access copies for public use.
