Sul Ross State University (Museum of the Big Bend)

The Museum of the Big Bend at Sul Ross State University will improve the storage of its collection of historic maps. The museum will hire a curator of cartographic collections to supervise the project and work with a cartographic consultant. The curator will research collection provenance, engage in professional development opportunities with professional organizations, and develop a catalog of the collection. The project will address environmental issues in the collections storage area that threaten the condition of the collection. Improved long-term collections storage will result in improved preservation for the collection, additional study space, and increased access to the collection for the purposes of exhibition and research.
