Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation

The Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation will make ballet archival material accessible for restaging by other dance companies. Project activities will include cataloging and digitizing the necessary technical information to restage the ballets, collecting and analyzing dramaturgical content on each ballet for historic preservation, and determining the rights holders for each work for future licensing opportunities with other professional dance companies and educational institutions. This collected material, along with a mini documentary with dancer and production staff interviews, will comprise a “dance capsule” that will be available through a new online portal.
