Charles Sumner School Museum and Archives
Log Number: ST-252508-OMS-22
The Friends of Sumner School Museum and Archives will use funds to undertake conservation treatments for the long-term care, preservation, and access of 11 objects in its collection. The museum holds approximately 670 objects on display and over 16,000 linear feet of materials in storage that document the history of D.C. public education from its inception in 1804 to the present, including information related to the instruction of African American students. After conservation treatments are completed, the materials will be digitized, rehoused, and returned to the museum for future use in museum exhibition and by scholars of D.C. history.
