J. Paul Getty Trust (Getty Research Institute)

The Getty Research Institute will preserve and make accessible archival collections that include correspondence, manuscripts, photographs, and audiovisual materials documenting the Women's Building, an educational institution founded in 1973 in Los Angeles. Dedicated to the creation and presentation of feminist art, the Women's Building supported the work of visual artists Judy Chicago and Nancy Buchanan; performers Terry Wolverton and Lily Tomlin; and writers Adrienne Rich and Alice Walker. The project will create finding aids for the collections and will digitize the audiovisual materials, making them available for research.
