Victoria Mansion
Log Number: ST-03-17-0002-17
The Victoria Mansion will conserve the decorative paint finishes in the parlor, one of the Mansion's most elaborate and historically art-rich spaces. The mansion houses the earliest and only intact commission of interior designer Gustave Herter, and the parlor contains the only surviving murals executed by artist Giuseppe Guidicini in America. The project will address stabilization and conservation of deteriorated paint finishes, stabilization of friable plaster, removal of accumulations of grime and soot and overpainting, in-studio treatment of two Iliad ceiling canvases, and re-attachment of loose elements.
