Indiana University (Glenn Black Laboratory of Archaeology)

Log Number: ST-03-17-0001-17

The Glenn Black Laboratory of Archaeology of Indiana University will reorganize and rehouse the artifacts, field notes, and images associated with systematic archaeological excavations (1939-1983) at the 100-acre Angel Mounds National Historic Landmark Site (AD 1250-1600). Activities will include rehousing objects, paper, and media records in museum-appropriate acid-free containers; implementing best practices in mold mitigation; digitizing records and photographs; updating artifact catalog records, correcting errors, revising inventories; and moving re-boxed bulk collections to a climate-controlled facility. The project will ensure the long-term preservation of these materials and make them accessible for research, exhibition, and education.
