The University of Alabama School of Library & Information Studies, unique among library schools in offering a self-contained book arts program, will join with the Alabama Center for the Book and academic experts in a one-year planning process to explore a dual master's degree in Library and Information Studies (MLIS) and Book Arts (MFA). Faculty in the School are acting on increasing requests for and interest in such a combination, and the planning process will include not only the gathering of relevant data, but presentations by national experts in the field and extensive discussions with constituents.
