The Georgia Consortium for Advanced Library Education, a project of the University of Georgia, Valdosta State University, and the Robert W. Woodruff Library at the Atlanta University Center, is a planning grant focused on creating interdisciplinary and inter-institutional collaborations to better serve the needs of librarians within the state and beyond by developing advanced graduate coursework and creating educational opportunities for the development of Georgia’s current and future workforce. The project includes convening a consortium of stakeholders, including librarians, library educators, and advocates; conducting a needs assessment to determine program elements and the extent of the need for advanced coursework in librarianship in the state of Georgia and nationally; and producing a plan and grant proposal to fully develop a specialist and doctoral degree.
