Southern University and A&M College is collaborating with Deans and Directors from Louisiana Historically Black Colleges and Universities’ at Dillard University, Grambling State University, Southern University New Orleans, Southern University Shreveport, and Xavier University. The HBCU-Louisiana Libraries Collaborative comprehensive approach includes two tracks for forum participants: Track A focusing on recruiting and exposing HBCU undergraduate students to library science graduate school education, and Track B providing online forums for current library support staff with the goal of retaining and developing talent. They will also hold a culminating institute that includes a recruitment fair for a broad audience of HBCU undergraduate students and current library and information science staff at HBCU libraries. They will develop a document with the best practices, challenges, and innovative approaches encountered throughout the project, offering a roadmap for replication at other institutions.
