University of Puerto Rico - Rio Piedras Campus (University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras Campus)

Log Number: RE-256636-OLS-24

The University of Puerto Rico Río Piedras Campus will develop capacity-building workshops on digital collections management for memory workers at galleries, libraries, archives, and museums in Puerto Rico to strengthen a community of practice in the region and create more resources on digital collections management for Spanish speakers more broadly. Activities will include online workshops, discussion groups, and the creation of a bilingual digital toolkit. Expected outcomes include enhanced guidelines and best practices for digital collections management, with particular attention to local needs and disaster preparedness, as well as more interdisciplinary collaboration and professional development for memory workers in Puerto Rico stewarding digital collections. The primary beneficiaries of this work are memory workers from diverse institutional and community-based settings across Puerto Rico. Additionally, by developing more resources in Spanish, the project will also support memory workers in the Hispanic Caribbean, Latin America, and Hispanic communities in the United States.
