Chief Officers of State Library Agencies

Log Number: RE-254982-OLS-23

The purpose of this project is to partially support the participation of State and Territorial libraries in the 2023 National Book Festival in Washington, DC through onsite participation in The Roadmap to Reading, through local programming, or both. The National Book Festival provides opportunities to increase public engagement in reading and literacy and demonstrates the variety of services and practices that make libraries anchor institutions in their communities. Onsite participation will consist of creating opportunities for visitors to meet delegates from State Library Agencies, Centers for the Book, and other literacy champions and to experience a wide array of displays and activities highlighting books, authors, and state-specific literary heritage. Local programming in communities throughout the country may include events featuring book authors, the creation or strengthening of book clubs, and story times emphasizing early literacy, complementary to and well aligned with the intent of the National Book Festival. Future related work may be undertaken by written amendment to this Cooperative Agreement through FY2026, subject to the availability of funds and IMLS discretion.
Amendment 2024: $202,640 in additional funds were awarded in 2024 to partially support participation of State and Territorial libraries in the 2024 National Book Festival in Washington, DC through onsite participation in The Roadmap to Reading, through local programming, or both.
