Log Number: RE-254923-OLS-23

San Jose State University and Simmons University will collaborate with national, state, and local partners to develop an openly accessible leadership program with an equity, diversity, and inclusion focus that will help inform future Library and Information Science leaders. Library leaders, instructional designers, and LIS practitioners will help identify the required core competencies for workforce development in a post-pandemic society. The planning activities are: 1) research and identify leadership and EDI core competencies; 2) design a curriculum outline that specifies measurable learning outcomes; 3) design an LIS practitioner- and educator-informed accessible, flexible, cost-effective, and impactful library leadership program focused on EDI; 4) design a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) curriculum and prototype; and 5) design a post-baccalaureate certificate program. The project will lay the foundation for a free, online professional development opportunity for LIS workers, leaders, and libraries, especially those who do not have or plan to pursue an MLIS degree.
