Old Dominion University (Old Dominion University Perry Library)
Log Number: RE-252368-OLS-22
Old Dominion University Libraries and faculty from Library and Information Studies will recruit Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) undergraduate students to the library profession through a paid internship program. Interns and coaches will attend the Virginia Library Association meeting, network with Librarians of Color, participate in workshops, and tour local libraries. They also will complete an impact project and showcase their work at the MLIS Summer Institute. Project outcomes will include a better understanding about what works for BIPOC students considering careers in librarianship, a set of training materials and project work plans for others to adapt and use which will contribute to further diversity in the field beyond this project, and more BIPOC students considering the library profession.
