Purdue University (Purdue University Libraries)
Log Number: RE-250161-OLS-21
Purdue University, in partnership with Howard University and DePaul University, will investigate the health information-seeking behaviors and needs of Black Americans, with a direct interest in planning for the development of instructional and professional development courses that improve cultural sensitivity, inclusion, and equity for library workers. The project team will complete an exhaustive, systematic literature review to compile and synthesize findings related to information-seeking behaviors amongst Black Americans and will work collaboratively with library workers to discern ideal course attributes and design criteria through a participatory approach. The grant will lay the groundwork for developing the skills and expertise of in-service and pre-service library professionals to make evidence-based decisions about how to best respond to the health-information seeking needs of Black Americans.
