WGBH Educational Foundation
Log Number: RE-250145-OLS-21
WGBH Educational Foundation, in collaboration with nine universities and public media organizations, will launch a continuation of the Public Broadcasting Preservation Fellowship for non-specialized library and information science graduate student programs to provide training in sound and audiovisual preservation and support the stewardship of at-risk public media collections. The program will fund a cohort of eight students at universities in the South, West, Midwest, and Hawaii to inventory, catalog, digitize, and digitally preserve target audiovisual collections at public media organizations serving underrepresented populations around the country. Partner universities will utilize equipment funded by the grant to develop plans for ongoing audiovisual preservation training among their student bodies. The fellows will digitize materials, which will then be preserved over the long term in the American Archive of Public Broadcasting for the benefit of researchers and scholars.
