Connecticut State Library will partner with Kedge: The Futures School to provide strategic foresight training to 300 public, academic, school, and special librarians. Strategic foresight is a framework that creates multiple future scenarios, envisioning outcomes and evaluating current and pending strategies to support decision making and action in the present against a suite of possible futures. Participants will work with a library-specific focal issue to produce multiple scenarios for libraries 10-15 years in the future. Library staff will develop the skills to identify and capitalize on emerging trends, weak signals, and changing patterns through tangible models and reusable templates that allow them to apply their learnings immediately. Amendment 2023: $285,000 in additional funds were awarded in 2023 to support training an additional 300 participants and to enhance the existing training to include a component on strategic foresight at the organizational level.
