Urban Libraries Council

The Urban Libraries Council (ULC) will recruit 40 emerging leaders in 40 public libraries who will attend an 11-month program that includes three instructional workshops, individual leadership assessments, and executive coaches. ULC fellows will be recruited with a focus on diversifying the next generation of public library leaders. Students and coaches will work on a challenging library project that will expose students to organizational and community dynamics. The program will create leaders who will have the skills to effectively lead complex public organizations in ways that create community value. The project will also build public library capacity to develop and nurture new leader talent. Match: $1,230,260
