The University of North Texas, in cooperation with the Council on Library and Information Resources, proposes a 24-month research project to investigate how the library and information science (LIS) profession can best respond to the emerging needs of universities as they seek to manage the ever-increasing amount of data generated by their faculty, staff, and students. This research will provide a better understanding of the new roles, knowledge, and skills required by information professionals so that they might more successfully manage not only the scholarly publications generated by the nation’s researchers, but also the data used to create those publications.
