In this early career development project, the Drexel University College of Information Science and Technology will fill a critical research gap by evaluating the current practice of metadata creation and quality control measures libraries employ. The project will examine current practices; identify factors hindering consistent, accurate, and complete metadata description; and assess new competencies and skill sets needed by cataloging professionals. This research is a necessary step toward achieving semantic interoperability in metadata creation.
