The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Library and Information Science will partner with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Institute on Aging to conduct a research project designed to study the career patterns of graduates of library and information science (LIS) programs by building an in-depth understanding of educational, workplace, career, and retention issues faced by LIS graduates. This part of the research will be sited in North Carolina, where a full range of LIS program types exist, including one that is in a historically black institution to allow for a focus on minority career and retention issues. The methods developed through this research will be used to generate a transferable model for career tracking of LIS graduates nationally. Match: $250,650
