The University of Maryland at College Park College of Information Studies (CLIS), in collaboration with the University's Human Computer Interaction Lab, will recruit and educate four doctoral students to teach and conduct research in the area of children's information resources and services and digital libraries. Emphasis will be on recruiting from underrepresented groups or individuals who have an interest in meeting the needs of diverse communities. Students will assist in the design, approval process, delivery, and evaluation of at least one course in CLIS, and write at least one co-authored or single-authored paper in the area of children's information needs and digital technology. Upon completion of the doctoral program, students will be prepared to accept positions as faculty members in programs of information studies and contribute to the education of the next generation of professionals working with young people.
