The Chicago Public Schools Department of Libraries and Information Services will partner with Dominican University’s Graduate School of Library and Information Science to address the shortage of certified elementary school librarians serving a diverse student population in the Chicago Public Schools (CPS). Fifteen teachers will receive master’s degrees in library and information science, full school librarian certification, mentor support, and professional development training. The main project objective is to increase the number of certified school library media specialists working in CPS elementary school libraries, meeting the need for more racial and culturally diversity.
