East Carolina University (East Carolina University, College of Education, Department of Library Science and Instructional Technology)

The Department of Library Science within the East Carolina University College of Education will fund the recruitment and education of up to 45 new school library media specialists. Recruits are needed to address the shortage of qualified professionals in North Carolina school districts, especially in rural areas. This program provides participants with scholarships to attend East Carolina University and assists in the completion of an online master’s degree in library science. Candidates are required to work in a rural North Carolina area for at least three years following graduation. Official partners include East Carolina University’s Joyner Library Teaching Resources Center, North Carolina School Library Media Association, and Latham Clinical Schools Network.
