Center for Information Studies (University of Tennessee, School of Information Sciences)

The University of Tennessee School of Information Sciences will collaborate with the Department of Energy Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the Department of Energy Office of Scientific and Technical Information, Information International Associates, the University of Tennessee John C. Hodges Library, and the University of Tennessee Pendergrass Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine Library to educate 10 science and technology librarians and create a model for the education of subject specialist librarians by combining practice in leading science institutions and libraries with graduate instruction. Students with strong science/technology backgrounds and from populations underrepresented in the profession will be recruited to the program, where they will receive mentoring and participate in hands-on professional practice.
