ATALM will provide one annual conference with three days of continuing education programs targeted to the needs of indigenous cultural institutions. The conference will feature 4 fieldtrips to cultural sites of significance to Native peoples; 8 full-day intensive workshops and 4 half-day workshops; 2 plenary sessions; 108 concurrent sessions and 27 hands-on collections care labs; 24 posters and 16 round table discussions; 2 luncheons; and 2 cultural events. These culturally-specific programs (a combination of lectures, fieldtrips, hands-on workshops, interactive listening and exchange sessions, as well as “how to” case studies) have been developed and will be delivered by a national team of indigenous professionals from tribal archives, libraries and museums, as well as representatives from non-tribal organizations, government agencies, and others who share a commitment to sustaining and advancing indigenous cultures.
