In October 2014 the University of Washington (UW) Information School (iSchool) proposes to hold a national leadership forum in Seattle, WA on digital youth, an emergent research area broadly framed as how people from birth to through young adulthood engage with technology and how technology is being shaped by their needs and demands. The primary objectives of the inaugural Digital Youth (DY) iLab, named as such to reflect its interactive nature, are: (1) to expand and coalesce the emerging interdisciplinary community of digital youth researchers, designers, industry leaders, professionals, and policymakers; (2) to position Library and Information Science as a leading voice within this community; (3) to facilitate concrete collaborations among these stakeholders; and, (4) to create a platform for advancing a shared research and policy agenda.
