Florida Museum of Natural History

An innovative partnership formed by the Florida Museum of Natural History, Alachua County Library District, and School Board of Alachua County, will provide a literature-based science program for more than 1200 low-income, predominantly African American/Black, preschool children (ages 3-4 years old) enrolled in over 50 Head Start classrooms. In the two-year project, Marvelous Explorations through Science and Stories (MESS) will develop a foundation for the children’s future academic success by promoting literacy in general and science literacy in particular.
