Nome Eskimo Community

The Nome Eskimo Community library will purchase books for the collection, including Alaska Native and American Indian resources, and children’s and young adult books. It will also support summer reading programs to help prevent the summer slide and other literacy-based youth programming during the school year. The library will hold programs in areas accessible to youth to help eliminate barriers to attending. The grant will also support the salary of library staff to run the summer youth programs and other youth-focused literacy programs. The work of this project will support the needs of community members with a special interest in promoting youth literacy.
