Louden Tribal Council

The Charles Evans Community Library will purchase graphic novels, and Playaways, preloaded, portable media players, to improve reading literacy by providing patrons with have limited broadband internet and computers, access to audio stories. It will support a portion of the staff salary to implement key program activities such summer reading program, as well as school events such as science fair and spelling bee. The library offers space for events and public meetings, and equipment such as a computer and a printer available for community members youth to elders, affirming its role as a community learning center for all ages. The project will directly benefit the Galena community, 60% who are Alaskan Native.
