Chilkoot Indian Association

In Haines, Alaska, the Chilkoot Indian Association library provides patrons with robust access to the internet. This has become increasingly important for communication as more transactions can be conducted only online, and many do not have access at home. The library also provides community members with training and step-by-step assistance and support in navigating the technology. To improve services, the library will invest in additional computer equipment, create a technology plan, and continue to expand its collection of Native Alaskan materials, especially those by local creators. In addition to engaging the community in lifelong learning, library staff will pursue their own training throughout the year.
