Historic London Town and Garden

Log Number: MP-00-11-0022-11

Building on a successful pilot project with the Maryland Historical Trust and the Maryland Association of History Museums, the Historic London Town and Gardens will create a series of workshops for historic sites and museums to train staff, volunteers and docents in the techniques of visitor-centered museums. IMLS funding will support a series of 12 workshops that will reach 600 people over three years, enhancing the skills of front-line staff and improving the quality of the museum visitor’s experience. Workshop participants will explore new ways that museum collections can be discovered by visitors, understand how educational experiences can become more visitor-centered, and learn how museums can better respond to the changing demographics of the museum visitor.
