Northeast Document Conservation Center

The Northeast Document Conservation Center (NEDCC), in partnership with the New England Museum Association (NEMA), will launch a regional staff training initiative on collections care for photographs. Geared toward smaller museums, the initiative will cover both analog and digital preservation. NEDCC and NEMA will present three workshops, each three days in length, for staff of museums and other cultural heritage institutions. This will help meet needs identified by a survey of NEDCC's audience. The workshop faculty will include experienced conservators, digital experts, and museum educators. Topics will include identification of historical photographic processes; nuts and bolts of collections care; what conservators do to protect photographs; longevity of digital prints; using online images to reach out to underserved communities; and sustainability of digital files.
