Jena Band of Choctaw Indians

Log Number: MN-255964-OMS-24

The Jena Band of Choctaw Indians will launch a strategic planning initiative to guide the development of a cultural center and museum that will house the Tribe's artifacts and display its history, culture, and heritage. Tribal leaders, members, and staff will form an advisory planning committee and will gather input from community members, particularly Tribal Elders and youth. The project team will engage the services of three consultants: a project manager, an architect, and a professional museum consultant, to assist in the planning process. The project team will also conduct site visits to see first-hand how other Choctaw communities have developed their cultural centers. As a result, the Tribe will have a strategic path forward for the scope and design of their cultural center, and be better positioned to preserve Jena Choctaw history, culture, and heritage.
