Pueblo of Pojoaque

Log Number: MN-255778-OMS-24

The Pueblo of Pojoaque’s Poeh Cultural Center will undertake a shared stewardship and ethical return project for Tewa objects to make them available for study, inspiration, and proper care. Project activities include researching museums, institutions, and individuals in the United States who may have Tewa objects and collaborating with the identified entities to bring the objects back to Tewa country in the spirit of restorative cultural collaboration. Additionally, project staff will develop ethical return policies, guidelines, and associated training to increase capacity for ethical returns and inter-institutional collaboration. The project will benefit the Pueblo of Pojoaque and surrounding Pueblos and will increase awareness of ways that Tribes and museums can work collaboratively to create a shared vision of American history.
