Ka`ala Farm, Inc.
Log Number: MN-253431-OMS-23
Kaʻala Farm will develop and provide fiber arts workshops that discuss the role of fiber arts in Hawaiian history and moʻolelo (stories) and offer hands-on opportunities to gain skills in this important Native Hawaiian art form. Project staff will identify and hire fiber arts practitioners to lead programs, coordinate recruitment for participation in pilot workshops, and evaluate and refine the content before launching it to wider audiences. The resulting programs will create opportunities for a broader and deeper understanding of the ancestral and contemporary history of Native Hawaiians in general, and the Native Hawaiian community of Waiʻanae in particular. Through this project, students, elders, families, and other participants will have the opportunity to engage with Hawaiian history and this art form from a Native Hawaiian perspective.
