Bad River Band of Lake Superior Tribe of Chippewa Indians

The Bad River Band of Lake Superior Tribe of Chippewa Indians will continue its efforts to establish its new Moka’aangiizis-iban (Rising Sun) Tribal Museum by implementing a community-driven institutional planning and policy development project. The museum manager will create a 5-year strategic plan and draft policies that establish a strong foundation for museum organization, collections stewardship, education and interpretation, and community and audience engagement. Project activities include researching best practices, information gathering through community surveys and focus groups, and conducting site visits to museums of similar scope and mission. Developing these foundational documents will increase the museum’s capacity to serve its community and create a path forward for museum operation and growth that is rooted in Tribal values.
