Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Potawatomi

The Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi will partner with the Battle Creek Regional History Museum in Battle Creek, MI to create a new Cultural Heritage Lobby at the museum to address a general lack of education and awareness about local Tribal history and cultural heritage. The re-designed lobby will display an original mural by a Potawatomi artist, as well as three kiosks set within customized decorative bases, showcasing digital images and content discussing Potawatomi history, language, and lifeways. Project funds will cover exhibition content and graphic design, development, review, and approval, as well as the kiosk fabrication and installation. By featuring Native voices and materials, the new lobby exhibit will help increase knowledge and understanding of local Tribal history and culture for both Tribal and non-Tribal citizens of southwestern Michigan.
