Kaw Nation’s Kanza Museum will improve the care and management of its collection by implementing a collections inventory and cataloging project to preserve and protect Kanza artifacts, photos, glass sides, and other items of cultural significance. Project activities include hiring and mentoring a new Collections Care Specialist who will inventory the museum’s collection, create and implement a catalog system, and procure archival quality materials to rehouse and store items. As a result, the Tribe will be better able to safeguard and preserve the items and their related historical information on the Kanza people for future reference, exhibition, and use by museum staff, Tribal members, and the community.
