Otoe-Missouria Tribe of Indians

The Otoe Missouria Tribe will coordinate an in-person meeting of tribal leaders and cultural representatives to support tribal participation in a pilot program focused on international repatriation of Native American ancestors and cultural items. The program will bring leaders from multiple international museums to Oklahoma for a multi-day meeting with the goal of exchanging ideas, promoting constructive dialogue, and developing positive relationships. The long-term goal is to facilitate the return of Native American heritage items held in foreign museum collections. Benefitting from this effort will be the participating tribal nations and international museum professionals, as they foster greater cross-cultural understanding and share lessons learned to help guide future exchanges and dialogue.
