Buena Vista Rancheria of Me-Wuk Indians of California

The Buena Vista Rancheria of Me-Wuk Indians will organize the archeological collections housed at the Upusani Cultural Center to aid in the curation and exhibition of collections. They will hire a collections specialist to help process, catalog, and preserve the archeological collection under the direction of the Tribal Historic Preservation Officer and an advisory board. The Tribe will hold programmatic events associated with the collection throughout the duration of the project for Tribal members, guests, and the surrounding community. The project will establish the archeological collection as a resource in both physical and digital formats, and result in the protection and advancement of Tribal historical knowledge and cultural practices.
