Nez Perce Tribe
Log Number: MN-251883-OMS-22
The Nez Perce Tribe will conduct a comprehensive feasibility study in order to gain an understanding of potential options for utilizing a newly acquired property as the future site of the Tribe’s first museum and cultural center. The Am’saáxpa (“Place of Boulders”) property, located in the heart of the Nez Perce Tribe’s traditional homeland, is a historic property in Joseph, Oregon, formerly a Nez Perce Tribal village site occupied by Chief Joseph, who is buried nearby. Additional project activities will include purchasing exhibit cases and developing a temporary exhibit of replica artifacts, which will increase the capacity of the Tribe to serve its members, the local public, and all those interested in learning about the Nez Perce people.
