Kaw Nation
Log Number: MN-251714-OMS-22
The Kanza Museum and the Kanza Library and Learning Center will provide a series of programs focused on increasing native community involvement through the teaching of traditional arts and crafts. A Tribal elder will teach cultural history to participants, as well as traditional methods of making tribal items and regalia, including moccasins, fringe shawls, jewelry, ribbon skirts, and shirts. They will infuse the programs with Kaáⁿze Íe, the Kaw language, and display crafted items made by participants at fashion shows and cultural events. Participating Kaw Tribal citizens and interested non-native community members will learn Tribal language, history, and culture, increasing a sense of Tribal community and pride, and helping preserve traditional knowledge.
