Bay Mills Indian Community

The Bay Mills Indian Community will expand the Point Iroquois Lighthouse Museum to protect, preserve, and perpetuate the Anishinaabe story, language, and cultural practices. Building on a Museum Assessment Program (MAP) report, the Tribe will conduct a security assessment of the facility to ensure proper management of the historic property and hire a curator to develop and implement procedures. To more fully engage visitors, including Tribal members, students, and the general public, the curator will develop a calendar of events and a registry of Tribal artists, storytellers, educators, and historians to provide appropriate and historically accurate programming.
