Yavapai Apache Nation

The Yavapai-Apache Nation Cultural Center will strengthen its services by implementing improvements in collections care and programming. The project will include an evaluation of the center’s climate control system to ensure the long-term preservation of collection items in storage and on display. Staff will upgrade supplies and equipment to support ongoing language preservation and oral history programming. Tribal members will also travel to five different locations around the country to research, identify, and examine items that have the potential for repatriation and care by the Nation. Repairs to the center’s pottery wheel will support its use for demonstrations, classes, and pottery making. Visitors, including Tribal members, the local Verde Valley community, and non-local tourists, will benefit from increased access to the Nation’s preserved historical and cultural materials.
